.. a powerful, motivating, and compelling spoken word artist and radio producer. She speaks from the heart with soulful articulation and a vulnerability of the soul. Hitaji does not just talk; she creates an experience that transforms the audience, leading them on a soul-searching experiential journey. She has the ability to bring an audience closer to the oneness of self, deep listening, and common ground. Speaking from the underworld of the personal and the collective, Hitaji always guides the audience in learning how to step out of the story of suffering into the story of personal and collective empowerment.

Hitaji has also been writing and reading poetry since junior high school. She has presented her poetry throughout this country on air and off. Her poetry reflects the transformational journey of a woman in process. Her poetry reflects what grace might be: the spirit, healing, and the constant re-birthing of self.

Hitaji’s first radio appearance was on WAMO in Pittsburgh. For more than 30 years, she has been a radio talk show host for KPFT radio station in Houston, Texas. Earth 101 is a live call-in radio show which responds to a multi-cultural audience reflecting all backgrounds; eliminating the victim mindset and the seeking of common ground based on the principles of “the greater good” for all.

Hitaji is a very powerful speaker. Her oral presentations were among the most moving and impressive I have seen at our Vermont campus. That she will continue to surprise and inspire others seems only natural to those who know and listen to her. You will find Hitaji a pleasure to work with, a real asset to your program.
